Zippo

perhaps the world's most well known lighter. Zippo. first made in 1932 they are still being produced and still have the break it we fix it guarantee. i sent one to the factory years ago that had been run over by an automobile. they sent me back a new one. can't beat them if you camp or smoke. i still have a couple left over from my naval service in the 1960's.

  1. Although my smoking days are long gone, I still have many many Zippos. I used to sell them at a store. There are many stories about Zippo, like saving a guy's life by taking a bullet. The nicest thing about original Zippo lighter ( they make butane lighters now)is that it is windproof. You can light the thing and throw it. It will be still kit up in the air. Comes in handy when you throw it into a gasoline paddle. Contrary to popular belief, a lit cigarette doesn't ignite the gas paddle.
The only thing I did not like about original Zippo was that it does not hold the lighter fluid more than 2 weeks. If you are nasty constant smoker, fluid will not last too long.
By the way, you are supposed to raise the lighter slightly when you light it. That would eliminate the unpleasant smell of lighter fluid. I learned that when I was selling those lighters.
