ratchet knives

i was talking to mr. garage the other day about ratchet knives. my conception of them was entirely wrong but after studying the subject a little i think i can say these are ratchet knives. the so called rude boys of Kingston, Jamaica are known for carrying this sort of knife. pull up on the ring and unlock the blade and a flick of the wrist opens it. do the same in reverse to close it. there are a couple of you tube videos showing how it is done. after watching the videos i think i prefer my false gravity knife for quickness of opening. the first one is an Okapi Knife made in South Africa. the originals were made in Solingen, Germany. next is a Kudu Knife. after the Kudu is a middle eastern looking knife followed by two without the ring opener but which open in similar fashion when the lever is lifted. a ratchet knife locks both open and closed. apparently they make a distinctive noise when being opened thus the name ratchet knife.
